Evelyn Diane (Wright) Jones

Mrs. Evelyn Diane Wright Jones was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on December 12, 1958 to the late E.J. Carson and Aszalee Wright Owens.  She passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025.  

Evelyn attended school at Perry Elementary, Lakeside Middle School, and Westside High School.  She later earned her Associates Degree from Brown Mackie College.  She was a great entrepreneur.  She was bold and willing to take risk.  She owned several businesses. In her spare time she loved to cook, travel, and listen to music.  Our diva enjoyed life to the fullest.  Her most precious gifts were her loving daughter and beautiful granddaughter.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Kelele Wright (Jamal Hodges); one granddaughter, Madasyn Hodges; sisters, Bernice Whitfield, Claudine (Gary) Peterson, Denise Wright, Pearline (Jessie) Hamilton, and Jennifer (Marvin) Caruthers; brothers, Melvin Wright, Walter (Tonya) Owens, Keith (Lois) Owens, Manquel (Tonia) Owens, Roylee (Janne) Carson, and Preston (Denise) Carson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Jones; parents, E.J. Carson and Aszalee Wright Owens; and three brothers, Webster Owens, Jr., Frederick Owens, and Michael Carson.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be held Thursday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
