Elizabeth was born on September 7, 1935 in Abbeville, SC to the late Charlie F. Roundtree, Sr. and Lorean Jackson Roundtree. She was surrounded by her family upon her death on Friday, April 15, 2022.
Elizabeth grew up in Abbeville and later settled in Anderson. She was previously married to the late Rev. T. C. Chamblee for 26 years. Twelve children were born.
In later years, she retired from Frigidaire. She was previously a member of Salem Baptist Church and later became a member of Royal Baptist Church, where she sang on the choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Elizabeth was a charming and friendly person. She loved decorating her house and she was also a competent seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and her homemade biscuits were legendary. Elizabeth also loved to entertain family and friends and she loved to dress up and wear hats.
She will be dearly missed by her four daughters, Fay Chamblee of Anderson, Teresa Chamblee of Greenville, Carolyn (Tom) Blue of Greer and Gloria Newton of Maryland; six sons, Freddy (Teresa), Ronnie (Gracie), Thomas and Michael Chamblee all of Anderson, Kenneth Chamblee of Greenville and Douglas Chamblee of Georgia; six sisters, Evelyn Walker, Margaret (Columbus) Moorehead, Jeanette WIlkins, Clotel Gibson and Inez Hall all of Anderson and Barbara (George) Paul of Abbeville, SC; one brother, Charlie Frank (Rita) Roundtree, Jr.; forty-two grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Merrie Jean; one son, Jimmy Chamblee; one sister, Dorothy Roundtree; and two brothers, Herman and William Roundtree.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.
Public viewing will be held Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her sister, Margaret Roundtree Moorehead, 225 Warwick Street Anderson, SC.
