Doris Jean (Wall) Humphrey

Mrs. Doris Jean Wall Humphrey, age 72, of Anderson, SC went home to her heavenly father on November 29, 2021. She was born May 6, 1949, to the late John Henry Wall and Easter Cowan Wall.

She was a member at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and enjoyed praising the Lord with her church family.

Doris Jean was loving, caring, and stubborn all at the same time. To know her was to love her because she was everybody’s AUNTIE. She has touched so many lives through her big smile and acts of kindness. She worked at JC Penney selling cosmetics for over 25+ years before retiring. She knew her stuff and was one of their top makeup artist. She was well known for her sense of fashion, sass, and like her favorite music artist, Michael Jackson, being a “dancing machine”. If she entered the room, she was going to be the life of the party. She was truly one of a kind, a timeless individual. She knew how to connect with the youth. She allowed people to be who they were in her presence. Even though she is gone physically, our memories of her will always be alive in our hearts.

She is survived by her three sisters, Jonnie Mae Gambrell, Tommie White, and Ruthell James, one sister-in-law, Angela Hamilton, her beloved cat, Poo Poo, and a host of loving relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Humphrey, three sisters, Josephine Wall, Letha Anderson and Carol James, and one brother, Johnny Claude Wall.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The inurnment will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.  

The family is at the home of her nieces, Carissa Reed, 108 Sussex Way Anderson, SC 29625.
