Dolores Chapman Obituary

Dolores Cristina Chapman, a beacon of light and love, departed from this world on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. She was born on July 27, 1958, in Fort Hood, Texas, but found her true home in Anderson, SC. Dolores was the beloved daughter of Lucy Mae Woolridge Chapman and McDuffie Lionel Chapman, who preceded her in death.

Her educational journey took her through TL Hanna High School and Saint Paul’s College, where she cultivated her passion for learning and community engagement. Dolores dedicated her professional life to serving others as a valued member of the S.H.A.R.E organization.

A devoted member of Thompson Centennial United Methodist Church, Dolores' faith was the guiding force of her life. She served tirelessly as Chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relations Council (PPRC), head of the church choir, and president of the church administrative council. Her leadership roles in various church committees, including the Response to Racism Task Force for the United Methodist Church, reflected her commitment to social justice and equality.

Dolores cherished every moment spent with her daughter, Jasmine Chapman, and her extended family. She leaves behind her daughter Jasmine Chapman, brother Gregory Chapman (Norma Hammond), her brother Doug Chapman, the memory of her late brother Rocky Chapman, along with sister-in-law Joy Chapman, nephews Douglas Chapman (Nicole Chapman), Ceedric Chapman, her aunt Ernestine Woolridge and cousin Dorothy Woolridge along with a host of other relatives and friends whose lives she touched deeply.

In addition to her family and church commitments, Dolores was actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the United Women in Faith and the Anderson County Human Relations Council. Her selfless dedication to serving others and her boundless love for her community will be remembered by all who knew her.

Dolores' kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire us all. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and the hearts of those who loved her.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Thompson Centennial United Methodist Church.
