Deborah Ann Walton, lovingly known as “Ann,” of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at NHC Retirement Facility.
She was born in Anderson, South Carolina on July 12, 1952, to the late Eddie Walton and Jenny (Hawthorne) Walton. Ann was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She received her education at Old Westside High School and went on to dedicate over 30 years of compassionate service as a nursing assistant in the Intensive Care Unit at Anderson Memorial Hospital. Following her retirement, she continued her life of care and service by becoming a devoted caregiver to her family members.
Ann was a faithful and dedicated life member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where she actively served as a member of the St. Paul Gospeliers Senior Choir. She found great joy in singing and fellowship, creating many cherished memories and lasting friendships through her church family.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her nephews and niece: Anthony Latimer, Rocky (Nikki) Latimer, Rhonda Latimer, and Cody (Rhoda) Latimer; siblings raised in the home: Lisa (Antonio) Walton, Quincy (Sharon) Walton, Nicole Walton, and Lola (Mel) Allen; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her lifelong partner, Cecil Pickens; her sister, Brenda Latimer; and her brothers, Thomas Walton and David Walton.
Ann will be remembered for her kindness, her caring spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and church. Her legacy of compassion and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved her.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
