David Gilliard

Mr. David Gilliard, Jr. was born April 29, 1953 to the late David and Josephine Johnson Gilliard.  He passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2025.

David joined New Prospect Baptist Church at an early age.  Later in life he enjoyed attending other churches.  He retired from the City of Anderson Sanitation Department after 25 years of service.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters, Lucille Lewis of Seneca, SC, Dorothy Prater of Anderson, SC, and Rosa Geer of Anderson, SC; three brothers, James (Idanell) Johnson of Seneca, SC, William (Gracie) Johnson of Townville, SC, and John Thomas Gilliard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Geer Gilliard; parents, David and Josephine Johnson Gilliard; one brother, Alvin Gilliard; and two sisters, Annette Corner and Lena Mae Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.
