Corrie (Walker) Young

Mrs. Corrie Walker Young was born October 5, 1928.  She departed this life on August 7, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

Corrie was born in Anderson, SC to Ida Walker and John Latimer. She was educated at Reed Street School and was a member of Generostee Baptist Church.  She worked in culinary at Anderson College (now known as Anderson University) for many years.  She later retired from Wometco Vending.

Corrie loved to cook, bake cakes, and spend time with her family.  If she wasn't at home cooking or at her job, when needed she worked with the culinary ministry at Generostee Baptist Church, until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Connie Rice, Janice Young, and Allison (Stefan) Wood; two sons, Clarence Young and Sammy Young; twelve grandchildren (four of them reared in the home, Terrance Young, Xavier Foster, Brianna Castlin, and Amari Castlin; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of loving relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Young; one daughter, Gloria Young; and three sons, John Will Young, Michael Young, and Kevin Young.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will be held on Monday, August 18 at Generostee Baptist Church in Starr, SC.  Public viewing will be held Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will be at their respective homes.
