Constance Elizabeth (Brown) Galloway

Constance E. Brown (Wigfall) Galloway passed away on February 17, 2025 at the age of 91 years old, just 11 days before her 92nd birthday.  Connie was born Constance Elizabeth Brown on February 28, 1933 to Armeller and Henry Brown in Orange, New Jersey.

She attended the East Orange school system and while there became a Candy Striper at East Orange General Hospital. After graduating from East Orange High School she attended the W. Paul Stillman School of Business (now known as Seton Hall University).  After graduating from business school, she worked as an input operator at Jonathan Logan in Bergen, New Jersey where she became a manager.

Her first marriage to Isaac Wigfall produced three children, Craig Henry, Faye Denise and Wendy Delores.  In 1972, Connie married Floyd Galloway and moved from New Jersey to her present residence in Pelzer, South Carolina. She originally secured a position at Exxon in Greenville, South Carolina. Shortly thereafter she began working at General Electric (GE) in the computer processing department. After retiring from GE she volunteered at the Anderson Medical Center (AnMed).

While in New Jersey she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Orange, New Jersey where she worked as a nurse.  When she moved to South Carolina she joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina where she was on the Finance Committee and the Women’s Auxiliary.  She later moved her membership to New Holly Light Missionary Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina where she was a member of the Missionary Board.

She would always say, “send me my money” when we incorrectly spoke the English language, or if we said something crazy she would say “what have you been drinking”.  She loved helping people whenever she could. She also liked playing the organ. Baking was her passion. We are all going to miss eating her cakes and pies.

Mrs. Galloway is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Armeller Brown; three sisters, Lillye Mae Brown, Lois D. Stevens and Dr. Grace Jackson; her son Craig Wigfall; and her husband Floyd Galloway.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Albert Galloway; three daughters, Faye Wigfall-Culpepper (Gary), Wendy Wigfall-Merritt and Patricia Gail Galloway; one daughter-in-law, Lillie Jenkins Wigfall; seven grandchildren, Zakia A. Galloway, Joi Francis-Johnson, Omar Holt, Cavanna Merritt Murphy (Scott), Dr. Sonay Culpepper-Yasin (Edrice), Kennetta S. Merritt and Garry C.I. Culpepper; seven great-grandchildren, Isaac Holt, Alex Holt, Parker Murphy, Lennox Murphy, Bryce Francis-Johnson, Brayden Francis-Johnson and Jackie Scott Murphy (Trey) and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. She will forever be in our hearts.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held Sunday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
