Cheryl Gibert, age 80, of 4602 Keys Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Staten Island, New York, on December 26, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Haywood and Eula Gray Haywood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Gibert; her son, Benjamin Gibert; one grandson, Micheal Johnson, Jr.; one sister, Sylvia Clark; and two brothers, Samuel Haywood, Jr. and Nicklos Haywood.
Cheryl graduated from North Avenue High School in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She also attended Mars Hill College. She later moved to Anderson, South Carolina, where she became a dedicated employee at NHC until her retirement.
Cheryl had a strong faith and loved praising the Lord. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and playing the piano.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Michele Vance of the home and Elizabeth (Micheal) Johnson of Starr, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Carmen Gibert; her siblings, Joyce Robinson of Washington, D.C., William (Devaki Ruba) Haywood, Sr. and John (Maria) Haywood, both of Anderson, South Carolina, and Clara Clark, David Haywood, James Haywood, Matthew Haywood, Marlene Haywood, and Cassandra Balakual, all of Hendersonville, North Carolina; along with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Word Tabernacle. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
