Carolyn W. Blackwell, 73, departed this life on August 31, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She resided in Anderson, SC for five years after moving back from El Paso, TX after 40 years. She was born May 20, 1951 in Anderson, SC.
Carolyn was a proud graduate of New Deal High School. She spent many years expanding her education. She received her Masters in Human Resource Management and was a licensed culinary chef.
Carolyn joined Hope Chapel Church while living in Texas. She attended faithfully until she moved back to South Carolina. While at Hope Chapel Church in Fort Bliss, TX, Carolyn was the church treasurer, sang on the choir, and was head of the usher board.
Carolyn was affectionately called "Rosie" by her family and close friends. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, two sons, Keith (Jackie) Blackwell and Murshid (Natalie) Blackwell; grandchildren, Alexis, Nyhia, Amira, Masiyah, and Murshid; great-grandchild, Malaya; one brother, John (Ann) Willingham; two sisters, Wanda Edwards and Veronica Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Clark David Willingham and Robbie Ella Lee Willingham; and three brothers, George David Willingham, Curtis Willingham, and Clark Willingham, Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Public viewing Friday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
