Canary Gambrell

Ms. Canary L. Gambrell was born in Anderson, SC on June 8, 1954.  She peacefully passed away at the home of her brother, Larry on October 28, 2021.

Canary graduated in 1972 from Westside High School in Anderson, SC.  After graduation, she moved to California.  In Los Angeles she worked in advertisement at Kresser, Craig, Brierly and Partners.  She lived in Los Angeles for 35 years before returning home to South Carolina, where she was employed with the City of Anderson Building and Codes as an office coordinator.

Canary enjoyed making jewelry, sewing, and taking pictures.  She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with her beautiful smile.  Her love for life will be greatly missed by her son, Brian Gambrell Robinson of Los Angeles, CA; her mother, Jonnie Mae Wall Gambrell of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Larry Gambrell, Donnell Gambrell both of Anderson, SC and Terrell (Sharon) Pickens of Simpsonville, SC; one nephew, Alex (Christy) Gambrell of Pelzer, SC; two great nieces, Olivia and Cee Gambrell both of Pelzer, SC; a special sister and loving friend, Angel Cline of Anderson, SC; three aunts, Doris Humphrey of Anderson, SC, Tommie White of Boston, MA, and Ruthell James of Dorchester, MA; and a host of relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, William "Bill" Gambrell and one brother, Joe Nathan Gambrell.

Public viewing will be held Tuesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Starr, SC.   

The family is at the home of her mother, Jonnie Mae Gambrell, 413 Susan Street Anderson, SC and at the home of her brother, Larry Gambrell, 244 Hudson Circle, Anderson, SC.
