Brenda Virginia Walton Latimer was born in Anderson, South Carolina on July 24, 1944 to Eddie and Jenny Hawthorne Walton. She was called to eternal rest on May 19, 2024 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Potenda, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends graduated from Old Westside High School. Brenda worked for Anderson School District #5 for many years and later became a caregiver for her family and others. She had a passion for helping people and was often called Nanny by those she cared for.
Brenda loved watching soap operas and loved playing Pokeno. She shared many memories and fun times with the ladies in the Pokeno Club: Dorothy, JoAnn, Judy, Daisy, and Benita.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her most prized possessions, her four children, Anthony Latimer, Rocky (Nikki) Latimer, Rhonda (Reese) Latimer, and Cody (Rhoda) Latimer; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five siblings, Debra Walton, Lola (Mel) Allen, Lisa (Antonio) Walton, Quincy (Shannon) Walton, and Nicole Walton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Latimer; and two brothers, Thomas and David Walton.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Public viewing Friday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
