Barrington Angus

On September 18, 2024, Barrington Alberga Angus passed away at his home at Walden Parkway, Anderson, South Carolina, at the age of 71. He was the first child born in Kingston, Jamaica, to Egerton and Catherine Angus, who preceded him in death along with two brothers, Egerton Angus Jr. and Granville Angus.

Barrington was affectionately called “Barry” by his siblings, family and friends. He was called “Pops” by his children. He leaves behind four sons, Jermaine, Jason, Andre' and Gary; two daughters, Trisha and Aneeka; three brothers, Radcliffe (Annmarie), Michael (Janette) and Patrick (Arline); three sisters, Marjorie, Camellia (James) and Sheron (Norman); grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and many cousins.

In his early years, Barrington attended Balmagie Primary School. In his junior years, he attended Penwood Secondary School and the Harbour View All-Age School. After he graduated, he pursued a trade as a printer and became employed at United Printers, the Government Printing Office and Smith's Printery where he became a qualified printer. In his later years, he learned and enjoyed wall and floor tiling.

Barrington migrated to the United States where he worked in New York and Florida before joining his mother and sisters in Anderson South Carolina, where he became employed by the Goodwill family. He made new friends and made every effort to be at work even as he battled with his terminal illness. Sadly as his condition progressed he was admitted to the AnMed Health Center where he went home on hospice care. On September 18, 2024, he succumbed to his illness and closed his eyes permanently.

Barrington will be missed by his entire family and friends, some of whom will gather at the Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 am to celebrate his life and to say goodbye.  The funeral service will begin at noon.  The interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
