Andrew Marshall Obituary

Andrew Grier Marshall entered eternal rest on September 8, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born on November 2, 1950 in Washington, DC to the late Andrew Clotel Marshall and Nannie McGrier Marshall. After the death of his parents, Andrew and his younger sister, Mary were reared in the home of their paternal grandmother, Bessie Lucille Marshall, aunts, Eva Mae Vance and Alberta Marshall Smith, in Anderson, SC.

Andrew joined Royal Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Westside High School in 1969. He enrolled in college for Business Administration but soon discovered a greater calling to serve his country.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1969. While in the military, he found his love for protecting and serving. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Andrew continued with his calling of service as a patrolman for the Anderson City Police Department. Andrew worked alongside many men and women who became his brothers and sisters in blue. After retiring from the police department, Andrew worked as a security officer at Owens Corning through US Security, where he gained many lifelong friends before retiring.

Andrew leaves behind to celebrate his life, wife, Marilyn Crawford Marshall; children, Raymond (Yolanda) Marshall, Mobile, Alabama, Andrew (Jessica) Crawford, Anderson, SC, Hattia “Tia” Marshall and granddaughters, Serenity Marshall and Ella Marshall of the home; eight grandchildren, Raven Lyons, Mobile, Alabama, Cameron Marshall, Mobile Alabama, Cadence Marshall, Mobile, Alabama, Malik Crawford, Anderson, SC, Braylon Crawford, Anderson, SC, Jocelyn Crawford, Anderson, SC, Blakely Bell, Anderson, SC, Uriah Thompson, Anderson, SC; aunt Alberta Marshall Smith, Suitland, MD; dear friend Ray Fishburne, Trenton, New Jersey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Andrew was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and sister, Mary Lucille Butler.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.  The interment will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family of Andrew Grier Marshall would like to extend their deepest gratitude for your thoughts, prayers, and love during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in Andrew's memory. The family respectfully asks for time to grieve privately and will not be receiving visitors at the home at this time.
