She was born on January 17, 1939, in Iva, South Carolina, to the late Acie and Etta Hall Hardy. Raised in the Star-Iva area, Alice attended Generostee Church School and later furthered her education at New Deal School.
Alice was joined in holy matrimony to the late Joe N. Dubose. She was a devoted member of Generostee Baptist Church until her marriage, after which she became a faithful member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Throughout her life, Alice worked diligently and was employed at JCPenney’s, Smith Fabric Store, and The Gray House in Starr, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Earnest Hardy, Alfred (Margie) Hardy, Ed (Doreatha) Hardy, Clifford Hardy, Marshall Hardy, Albert (Bev) Hardy, Acie Hardy Jr., Etha (Willie) Patterson, Elvira (Willie) Hairston, Azalee (Don) Elliott, and Tommie (Joe) Lee. Also preceding her in death was a special niece raised in the home as a sister, Laura (L.C.) Scott.
Alice was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a half-brother, Pete Boston of Anderson, South Carolina; and two loving sisters-in-law: Betty Ruth Hardy of Anderson, South Carolina, and Carolyn Hardy of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Her life was a testament of strength, faith, and love. Though she has departed this earthly realm, her memory and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.
