William Clinton Bruce was born on April 17, 1935 in Anderson, SC. He made his transition to our heavenly father on Monday, June 4, 2018. William was one of eleven children born to the late Roscoe Sr. and Victoria Bruce.
At an early age, he joined Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where he served as Deacon and Treasurer for many years. William worked for Frank Meyers Motors for 40 years and retired from Buddy Automotive Service. William loved talking with people, singing and watching his favorite show, “The Young and the Restless.” He actually scheduled his lunch hour to watch it every week day.
William leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Julia Morris Bruce; children, Ray Bruce (Troycine), Leslie Sr. (Rose Mary), Carolyn Bruce, Jerry (Crystal), Wilbur (Erica), Natoya Bruce, and Arnetha Chamblee; sister, Helen McPherson; brother, Webster (Wanda), Roscoe Jr, and Paris; 5 Grandchildren, 5 great Grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Adopted children, Louis Spear, Jackie Spear, Cam Spear, Thomasina Lindsey, Joe Moss, Cindy Davis, Chelsea Tolive, William Harrison all of Anderson, Michelle Harrison of D.C., Walter Johnson of New York, and Mark Grooms of Charlotte, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth Thompson, Martha Gantt, Airleda Wideman, and Bernice Turner; and brothers, Billie Joe Bruce and Claude Bruce.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral.
