Ms. Teresa Elizabeth Payton, 56, of 602 Salem Street in Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Teresa was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She graduated from T.L. Hanna High School in 1982. Teresa was a former employee of West Point Stevens and Kroger Bakery.
She will be missed by her daughters, Shela and Lakendra Payton; three grandchildren, Kendall Plumer, Khylie Payton, Nequawn Davis; a niece reared in the home, Shedricka Payton; a nephew reared in the home, Kendall Payton; eight sisters, Diane (Endy) Watkins, Corrie Hunter, Delores Cook, Angela Cook, Maria (Donnie) Cook, Sharon (Dane) Harris, Helen Durham, and Linda Swinger; three brothers, David Payton, William "Bill" Swinger, and Thomas Davis; god-daughter, Kamri Ellington; special friends, Harriet Hill, Beblyn J. Beaty, Ivery Hill, and Karen Leverette; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary E. Payton; father, William Swinger; step-father, Melvin Cook; grandparents, David Payton, Vera Payton, and Corrie Blackwell; one brother, John D. "Red Willie" Sullivan; brother-in-law, Willie Hunter; and one niece, Brinasha Payton-Vessels.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Starr, SC. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home, 602 Salem Street Anderson, SC 29624.
