John D. Sullivan (better known as Red Willie) was born on January 9, 1954. He was the fourth of ten children born to the late T.S. & Minnie Sullivan. His soul departed this life on earth to be with our God in Glory on June 23, 2018 at Thomas Infirmary Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama.
On July 28, 1990, he took the hand of Sherrill Glover Sullivan in Holy Matrimony. John joined Silver Springs Baptist Church in Pendleton, SC at an early age. He attended Tri-County Technical College (Pendleton, SC) and Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw, GA). Later he continued his education at a Community College in Connecticut; which prepared him for better employment opportunities both in Connecticut and later in Atlanta, GA. After many years of residing in Atlanta, GA, John took residence in Mobile, AL until his health failed.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife of 27 years, Sherrill Glover Sullivan; six sons, Randy Alexander (Tenoia) of Pendleton, SC, Tony Brown of Boston, MA, Tavarie (Dana) Taylor of Clemson, SC, Tyson Alexander (Michelle) of Central, SC, Jovan Dawson (Kim) of Charlotte, NC, and Jowaan Sullivan of North Hollywood, CA; five daughters, Fatima (Anthony) White of Central, SC, Shimeka Chester of Union City, GA, Jonshay Sullivan of Mobile, AL, Jeannie Dawson McDougald of Taylors, SC and Danielle (Frazier) Holyfield of Atlanta, GA; two sons of the heart; Antoni Bradley of Mobile, AL and Renel Simon of Atlanta, GA; and one sister of the heart, Emma “Cookie” (Roy) Wiley of Pendleton, SC. He also leaves to cherish his loving memories to six brothers, Mr. James A. (Mary Ann) Sullivan of Pendleton, SC, Mr. Hack Howard Sullivan of Pendleton, SC, Mr. Cary (Rose) Sullivan of Columbus, GA, Mr. Tony A. (Leslie) Sullivan of Bartow, FL, Mr. Willie R. Sullivan of Bartow, FL, and Mr. Ricky Sullivan of Anderson, SC; two sisters, Ms. Marilyn E. Wright of Anderson, SC and Ms. Emma D. Sullivan of Bartow, FL; twenty-four grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. T.S. & Minnie Sullivan; one dearly loved brother, Rodney J. Sullivan; and one revered nephew, David Tyrone Sullivan.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Clemson United Methodist Church (300 Frontage Road Clemson, SC). The interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church in Clemson, SC.
