Mr. James Arthur Johnson, Sr. was born on March 16, 1955 in Anderson, South Carolina. He departed this life on February 25, 2019 at his home.
James received an honorable discharge from the Army after serving fourteen years and six months. While in the Army, James received the following awards: The Army Service Ribbon, The Army Commendation Medal, The Overseas Service Ribbon (received three times), The Army Good Conduct Medal (received four times), The Army Achievement Medal and The Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (received two times).
James was a faithful member of Fuller Temple F. B. H. Church. He became a member on October 9, 2005. James supported the church in any way possible. He taught Adult Sunday School for two years, sung with the Men's and Gospel Choirs and played the drums for the church. James was also The National Usher for F. B. H. Church of God of Americas.
He is survived by his son, James A. Johnson, Jr.; step-son, Carlos Oliver; sister, Shirley A. Johnson Clayton; brothers, James "Jamie" Rice and Grendel Williams; and a host of relatives.
He was preceded in death by parents, Betty Johnson Miller and Quincy Rice and his brother, David Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.
