Mr. James Albert "Pimp" Brownlee, age 72, of 1413 South Fant Street in Anderson, SC, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Abbeville County on March 17, 1945 to James and Sarah Brownlee.
James attended New Deal High School and worked for the City of New York as a Security Guard.
He will be missed by his devoted longtime friend, Annie Mamie Mattison of the home; stepchildren, Andericka Easter of Greenville, SC and Jimmy Sadler of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Mary Richardson of Anderson, SC and Mattie Hooten of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Bobby Lewis Brownlee of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren, Ny-eishia Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Shawn Sadler, Zayden Sadler, Andrea Sadler, Jabri Easter, Jeremy Easter; one great-grandchild, Keanna Hunter; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Brownlee of New York City; one aunt, Rosa Bell Jay of New York City; and a host nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Ann Starks Brownlee and James Allen "Pete" Brownlee; one son, Robert Groves; one sister, Betty Jo Beaty; and one brother, Ernest Brownlee.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
The family is at the home of his sister, Mary Richardson, 233 Meadow Hill Drive Anderson, SC 29624.
