Frances Evelyn Thompson was born on September 13, 1926 in Anderson, SC, to the late James E. Fant and Sallie E. Adger Fant. She departed her earthly home for a heavenly one on December 10, 2017.
She was a graduate of Reed Street School. Frances was joined in marriage for twenty-three years to the late Ernest Thompson. She resided in Toledo, Ohio for forty-five years, and moved back to Anderson after retiring from City Auto Stamping Company in Toledo, with sixteen years service. While in Toledo, Frances was a faithful member of Warren AME Church, where she sang in the Gospel Choir and was a member of the Young Women’s Sunday School Class, as well as the Altar Guild.
Upon her return to Anderson, she continued her faithful work at Jefferson Chapel AME Church. There she sang in the Senior Choir, was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, organized canned food drives, helped in the kitchen, or in any other capacity in which she was needed in the church. Frances loved flowers, and until her health declined, loved to do her own yard work.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Corine Davis and Alberta Hill, and brothers Richard, Charlie, Andrew, Sylvester, and Foster Fant.
Frances leaves behind one sister, Mertha Porterfield of Belton, and one brother, Marcell Fant (Mary), also of Belton. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Jefferson Chapel A.M.E. Church. The Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
